AWESOME SUMMER READ , June 26, 2007
By  Kathleen Young "one busy mom" (Las Vegas, NV) -

Loved the book from the beginning. Brig Parker becomes a real man to deal with, and you don't want to cross him. His non-stop search for Whitey has many twists and turns, some unexpected. The civil war pitted man against man, and the decisions that they made caused them to become the hunted.

I can't wait for the next book (coming soon).

I grew up on westerns-movies,tv series and books. This book is THE OLD WEST.C.J. Childers takes you back to the old west and drops you right in the heart of it.He wraps you up so tight in the story that you are sure you are there living it. I couldn't put it down.I was left feeling totally satisfied, yet wanting more. I hope to see many more of his books out soon.

The wait is over. Iraq (5/27/2007

My job and my lifestyle affords me little time to read a book. If a book is recommended for reading, the author must capture my interest, and hold it throughout, in order for me to finish it.

Word got around about this book: Like the Rain: The Samaritan, which peaked my interest. I decided to read it and found that the author captured and held my attention throughout the book. As I read, C.J. Childers took me back into that era of time. The power of the story line sucked me in as if I was totally involved. Childers takes you through a wide range of emotions. I experienced the light hearted giggles to out loud laughter, through the hardships, and pain and suffering of the characters which brought tears to my eyes. C.J. Childers, you have succeeded in leaving me anxiously waiting for the continuation of the story of these characters.

Great Book!

Great western, it's been awhile since I read a book that put me right there in the old west with them. A true pleasure to read! I hope there's more books to come. Thank you for a wonderful book!
